My name is Sam. I have been providing mental health therapy for 9 years, with most of my experience directed towards past abuse or childhood trauma, people-pleasing and perfectionism, and relationship issues including affairs and sexual and intimacy concerns. I received my Master of Social Work from the University of Utah and my Bachelors from Utah State University. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. I enjoy watching movies, going for long walks, and weightlifting. I also am obsessed with the painter Bob Ross, and often find myself watching his videos late at night.

I know going to therapy can be really scary, as I’ve been there myself. There have been times in my life where I struggled with my own mental health and sexual shame. I kept things hidden from my friends and family, and I was scared to talk with someone about my struggles. I did not want to be judged or criticized by anyone, and really thought it would be easier to avoid. However, what I hid kept getting in the way of the life I wanted to live. Once I decided to honestly talk about and address my struggles, and learn to accept myself, it was a game changer. It took some time, as therapy often does, but it helped me make the changes I wanted. The same can happen for you.

Please know that while therapy can be extremely helpful, it takes work. I cannot work harder than my clients, because I can’t change you. Only you can do that. However, I can help you heal from past trauma, get free from shame, and help you learn new ways to cope and interact with your world. I am happy to support you through that change.

At any point if we realize we are not a good fit for each other, I would be happy to provide referrals to other therapists. You getting the help you need is what is most important.
