Healing from trauma

Trauma, which can be any experience that was overwhelming and impacted a person’s sense of physical or emotional safety, has a profound impact on our mental and emotional well-being. Many of us carry wounds from childhood, that were never addressed or talked about, that influence our relationships and how we live. My trauma therapy services are designed to create a safe space for individuals to explore and heal from traumatic experiences. My specialized approach to healing trauma encompasses a range of therapies, but my two main approaches are Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Inner Child Therapy or Ego State Work.

EMDR Therapy

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a specialized therapy designed to reduce emotional distress and triggers associated with traumatic memories. During EMDR sessions, clients are guided through traumatic memories while engaging in specific bilateral stimulation, such as eye movements or taps. This research-based process allows the brain to reprocess these memories (or store them in a different way) to change thoughts and emotions about the traumatic event, and for the body to no longer associate pain or panic with the experience. EMDR therapy doesn’t require clients to share every detail of their trauma; rather, it focuses on accessing and processing memories in a safe and controlled manner. EMDR therapy is tailored to individual needs, and the pace and progress depend on each client's unique circumstances and readiness.

Inner Child Therapy

Inner Child Therapy, also known as Ego State Work, involves exploring and addressing the different "parts" within an individual's personality, often stemming from past experiences or unmet needs. These distinct ego states may hold emotions, beliefs, or behaviors that were formed during childhood and continue to influence thoughts and actions in the present. Through Ego State Work, clients engage in therapeutic processes aimed at acknowledging, nurturing, and integrating these inner parts. This approach creates a relationship among the inner parts, facilitating personal growth, self-discovery, and a greater sense of wholeness.

Trauma therapy, EMDR, and Inner Child Healing services are suitable for individuals dealing with various forms of trauma, PTSD, unresolved childhood issues, relationship difficulties, and other challenges impacting their well-being.
